Jeff and I have known each other since we were in high school on Whidbey Island, Wash. We attended college in Seattle, dated and became engaged but didn't end up getting married. We both went on to other marriages and had families but kept in touch through reunions and friends. We reconnected in 2002 through his 30th reunion, began dating and where married in 2004.Over the years I have planned many weddings and receptions and found one of the hardest parts was finding the perfect person to conduct the ceremony. If you don't belong to a church most ministers won't even talk to you (some are downright rude). So you find a local officiant but some don't want to travel far, they have a lot of rules, many seem kind of stuffy, they may require premarital counseling, most don't take much time going over the details, they won't allow customized vows and most have only a few sample ceremonies to choose from. My husband and I wanted something extra that we could do together that would incorporate my love of weddings, event planning and some travel. We decided to become ordained ministers/officiants through the Universal Life Church so we could help couples get married the way they want too. We wanted to offer services that we found lacking in most other officiants we had talked too.We started our business in 2006 and planned on doing 'maybe' 12-15 weddings a year for fun.....we did over 60 and turned away over 200 our first year!! We were nominated in 'The Best of Western Washington' poll for best wedding coordinators in Seattle our 1st year and came in 7th!! Since then we have done almost 5000 weddings. In the spring of 2009, we found out our daughter was going to have a baby!! Since she lived in Houston we packed up and moved to Texas! We are now the proud grandparents to Aubrey and in 2013 added her brother Gavin to the family!! My son and his wife still live in the Seattle area and have carried on our business up there plus have given us two more wonderful grandsons, Jack and Ben. Life is good!!
